Absence & Early Collection Procedure

Absence Procedure

In the event that a student is absent from the College, parents/carers will be notified via the College App or Parent Portal. Parents/carers of Secondary School students will also receive an SMS notification after 10:00am.

Parents/carers are asked to verify and give a reason for their child/ren's absence via the College App or Parent Portal. This can be done after you receive the notification after 10:00am on the day the absence was recorded.

To assist with recording any prior absences, parents/carers can notify the College via email reception@arndell.nsw.edu.au or call the College Reception on 4572 3633 advising student details and reason for absence. Parents/carers will still need to verify the absence via the College App or Parent Portal.

Early Collection Procedure

Families are requested to schedule appointments outside of school hours and take holidays during school holiday periods. In the exception that this is not possible, we ask that you follow the below processes:

  • No Collections After 2:15pm and Collections only in last 10 minutes of Periods 1-5: Early collection is not permitted from 2:15pm onwards (Period 6), or during Assemblies, Chapel, and other special events. If you arrive during this time, you will be asked to wait until the end of the school day, or until the event has concluded. Early collection is only available during the last 10 minutes of Periods 1-5. If you arrive outside of this time, you will be asked to wait until the following collection period. Click here to view the College period and bell times.
  • Advance Notice Required of Early Pick Up: You must notify Reception via reception@arndell.nsw.edu.au or by phoning 02 4572 3633 as soon as an appointment is booked so it can be scheduled in the College calendar and collection of the student can be pre-arranged. At a minimum, at least 30 minutes' notice is required for early collection of students.
  • Expect to Wait: If you arrive without prior notice, you will be required to wait at Reception or in your vehicle until collection of your child can be arranged.
  • No Direct Contact with Students During the School Day: Do not message, email or call your child directly during the school day. All communication, including arrangement for early pick up, must be sent through Reception. Students who become unwell during the day must report to the College Clinic, and staff will contact you as required.  Students are reminded to not use their mobile phones from the moment they arrive on campus through to 3:05pm as per the Student Use of Mobile Devices Policy and Procedure
  • Recurring Appointments: Regular commitments (e.g., weekly therapy or tutoring sessions) require prior written approval from the College Executive prior to the appointments, not just a notification. Please submit this notification to reception@arndell.nsw.edu.au who will forward it to the relevant College Executive for approval.
Collection Due to Illness

Students who become unwell during the day must report to the College Clinic.  Following assessment and review, a call will be made to any parent/carer to collect their child/ren, where necessary.  Students should not make direct contact with parents/carers.
