Through sport, every student with opportunities to grow, compete, and proudly represent the College, supported by clear pathways across Junior and Secondary School. Sport plays a vital role in developing confident, resilient, and respectful young people, with a comprehensive and inclusive program that fosters skill development, character, teamwork, and perseverance - while encouraging both the joy of participation and the pursuit of excellence.
This commitment is underpinned by our Sport Philosophy, which shapes every aspect of the Arndell sporting experience. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for all students to reach their full potential through inclusive programs, high standards, and a focus on holistic development. By prioritising commitment, respect, accountability, and a process-driven approach, we aim to build not only capable athletes, but confident individuals who embody teamwork, integrity, and a lifelong appreciation for sport.

In the Junior School, the emphasis is on participation, enjoyment, and foundational skill development. Students are introduced to sport in a supportive environment that promotes sportsmanship, fair play, and positive relationships. In Stage 2 and 3, students are encouraged to trial for the HZSA Afternoon Sport Program, where they represent the College in an interschool sport program within the Hills. These early experiences help foster confidence, resilience, and a love of physical activity, laying strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing and character growth.
Further information on the Junior School Sport Program can be found in the document below.
As students progress into Secondary School, the College Sport Program expands significantly, offering greater challenge, commitment, and competitive opportunities. Through our participation in HZSA, AICES, and CIS, students are able to represent the College across a wide range of individual and team sports.
This stage of the Sport Program challenges students to demonstrate commitment, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, as they learn to balance performance with integrity and respect for others.

Three College House Carnivals are held annually - Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics. These events are a highlight of the College calendar and provide opportunities for every student to participate at their own level, contributing to House spirit, belonging, and community connection.
The House Carnivals also serve as the pathway to College representation, with teams for HZSA selected from these events. Students in Junior School will go on to represent HZSA at CIS level, whereas Secondary Students represent HZSA at AICES, then progress to CIS and further competitive levels.
Students may progress to representative levels through HZSA in Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, and a wide range of team and individual sports throughout the year. HZSA also offers a Year 5–11 Triathlon, typically held in Term 4, providing further opportunities for challenge and achievement. Representative sport opportunities are communicated in the Weekly Bulletin, sent to both Secondary School students and all parents/carers.
Arndell Anglican College’s Rugby Program is a well-established and highly valued part of our Secondary Sport offering, providing students with opportunities to develop their skills, character, and teamwork in a competitive and supportive environment. With multiple boys’ teams across age groups and a growing girls’ Rugby 7s program, rugby has become one of the College’s most popular sports by participation. Students benefit from experienced coaching, regular fixtures against leading schools across Sydney, and opportunities such as representative pathways and tours. The program emphasises commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship, encouraging all players - regardless of ability - to strive for personal excellence while upholding the values of respect and fair play.
Further information regarding afternoon sport, individual and team nominations, communication processes, uniform requirements, and frequently asked questions is available in the Junior and Secondary School Sport Booklets below.
