New Headmaster Appointed

I am pleased to announce that the new Headmaster for Arndell will be Mr Gareth Leechman, MA, MEd, currently Headmaster at Clarence Valley Anglican School, Grafton. Mr Leechman will take up the position from the beginning of term one, 2010.  

Mr Leechman was chosen from an extensive field of applicants, including six principals of existing schools. The quality of the applicants reflected the high esteem in which Arndell is now held as an independent school.

Before becoming the Principal at Clarence Valley, Mr Leechman had been Head of History, and Head of House at Shore.   Mr Leechman brings to his new role a determination to continue and further develop the high academic standards of Arndell, its strong Christian character, and its fine traditions in music, sport and pastoral care.   There will be an opportunity for parents to meet Mr Leechman at a college function early in 2010.   The College Council wishes to acknowledge the splendid work undertaken by Mr James Webb in leading the College since the resignation of Dr John Goddard.  Mr Webb was invited to apply for the role of Headmaster but elected not to do so. He will continue as Deputy Headmaster and Head of the Senior School, roles which he has filled with distinction in the past and to which he wishes to return. John Lambert Chairman of Council
