An Overview of the Learning Support Department:
The Senior School Learning Support Department provides assistance to numerous students from years 7 – 12:
This assistance has included:
- Creating and locating resources to assist reading and alternative learning styles
- Scaffolding assignments and class work
- Withdrawing students to work in smaller groups,
- Using alternative teaching methods,
- A specialist English class in Years 7 and 8
- Withdrawal of students for one to one assistance,
- Providing Special Provisions for assessments and examinations
- Training Peer Tutors to help in key subjects on a daily basis
- Assisting in classes through team teaching,
- Planning and writing documents, including IEPS, relating to individual learners
- Formal testing and referral
- Conferencing and liasing with parents, teachers and specialists
- Also opening our doors to students, teachers and parents throughout the day for queries and feed back keeps us constantly busy – and happy in the knowledge that we are providing the best upport possible for all students who find themselves in need.
