Welcome to the New Year

Wednesday, 28 January 2009

What an exciting year in prospect!

Welcome to 2009, and an enormous welcome to our new staff.

Returning: Mrs. Connie Stephens - Head of Library Services, Mrs. Michaela Miles - Head of Music and Performing Arts, Mr. Chris Wilson - Music, Mrs. Wendy Parris and Mrs. Thea Turner - HSIE.  We also welcome Mrs. Lyn Lewis - Maths and Physics, Ms. Daniela Falecki - PE and Drama and Mrs. Elizabeth Morrison TAS.

A new venture for the College this year is the introduction of a Pre Kindergarten class.  Mrs. Rebekah Davis will teach the class and we wish her every success.

On the Administration side we welcome Mrs. Bonny Davies a replacement for April Parnwell who is on maternity leave.

I would ask you to pray for Glenys Goddard as she continues to battle with illness and for Dr. Goddard as he takes leave to be with Glenys.  Please pray for Mrs. Pat Rankin - Junior School - recovering from a serious operation. Also pray for little Tim Sandell of the Junior School, as he fights serious illness.

I hope that we can join together as a community, and pull in the same direction in these most difficult times.  The world economy is being battered and the Hawkesbury is not immune from its effects.  I pray that our families can find stabilty and are able to develope plans that can minimize the impact.  We are here to help if we can.

As Acting Headmaster I hope that I have the opportunity to meet with many of you.  Please stop me and say hello, introduce yourself and tell me who your children are.

I want to encourage you to take a really active roll in the education of your child or children.  Come along to meetings, become involved in the Parents and Friends Association, ensure that you get to know your child's class teacher, homeroom tutor or Head of House.  Help us to create a wonderful community spirit, establishing a culture of caring.  Help us to instill in your children a love of learning and a desire to do their absolute best.

Arndell is a place where our students have an opportunity to learn about and develop a relationship with Jesus.  What an awesome role model we have!  The good news is out there and if you are inquisitve, come along and have a chat with the team from the church - the coffee is wonderful.

I look forward to updating my blog with the events and happenings of the College.  If you have great news let us share in it.
