BOS Registration

Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Last week produced one of those days that cause schools, rightly or wrongly, to experience a fit of the jitters.

It was the day of the every 5 years Board of Studies inspection that provides our registration to operate as a school.  Of course, we had submitted all the paperwork and made all the preparations; but there is always a lingering doubt that we might have forgotten a little something, somewhere!

We need not have had the jitters at all. The Board inspectors were highly complimentary about all aspects of the college's operations, and have recommended that we be granted the full 5 years' registration, and gave us all sorts of encouraging commentary about the things we do at Arndell.

In particular, I want to mention:

Glowing endorsement of  the nature of the programs, student work, facilities and procedures in the Junior School. The whole K-6 operation came across to the inspectors - as it undoubtedly is! - as coherent, strong and well managed. They were impressed by the imaginative and well constructed teaching programs. It all reflected great credit on Mr Harrison and on all the staff of the Junior School.

A most enthusiastic response to programs and teaching arrangements right across the Senior School. There was great praise for the work samples that were on show,  The Board were delighted that there was such variety and thought in the teaching and learning activities.

All the Assessment documentation was exactly as it should be - a huge well done to Mrs Dean, to the Heads of Departments and to the Junior Stage Co-ordinators.

Policies and procedures right across the school were described as succinct and clear.

The whole inspection amounted to a ringing endorsement by the Board of a school that knows what it is doing and does it very well!
